Aquatic Mining Chant

Rilaoan miners use mental control to operate robots on extraterrestrial asteroids in space.

These robots harbored in a communal marina on each asteroid, are sent deep into the subterranean crevasses of the asteroids to acquire rare aquatic space minerals – essential of the rilaoan economy.

To pass the time in the mines, these robots chant a subversive song about one day being free of their mentally controlling human captors.

Teleforche

The Teleforche is a 10-15 foot long psionic fork extender used by Rilaoan military cadets to spear banned fruit from beyond the fence of their military base. New cadets must make their own teleforches as a rite of passage on joining the military community.

The Launa Blossom

This is an encyclopaedia article detailing the specifics of the Launa blossom. Through experimentation with the Launa flower, researchers learnt that they can alter it genetically creating a species, which when brewed into tea, causes a euphoric mind altering state. The lower classes who cannot afford virtual reality, resort to escaping the material world through this powerful new drug.

The Ball

Rilaoan children begin to develop their abilities to project energy from their bodies very early in life. One of the examples of how they develop this consciousness and skill set is the ball. The ball is a simple rolling ball controlled by children as young as 3 with a mind/will projection. Very talented children have been known to be able to make the ball jump.

Body Bars

We float in the arena – the game is like wallgames or Calvin Ball-ever-changing rules. Tattoos are now 3-D controlled by the mind. Specila snack bars are eaten to adjust the color / brightness of the tattoos. The snacks are created form by-products of newly discovered astroid mining process. The snacks are given as rewards in the game.

The Revolution Will Be Neurally Transmitted

The document is a narrative that exists only in the virtual world, transmitted between members of the Rilaoan underworld through cybernetic mediated communications. It contains instructions for a revolution against the hegemonic asteroid mining oligarchs, of which the black market has emerged in opposition to. This revolution is based on the liberation from material consumption, instead relying on illicit networks to provide all social needs.

An Excerpt from THE REVOLUTION WILL BE NEURALLY TRANSMITTED!: A VIRTUAL MANIFESTO

Our PIRATE ancestors had the courage to escape from the crown to settle a new land where we could live together upon the fruits of our DIY labor. And yet we have subjected ourselves to generations of plague doctors, military juntas, and corporate oligopolies, each more constraining that the last, each exploiting more of our labor, each channeling our minds to their own ends. The time has come to say ENOUGH! Today, the time has come for us to become bionic buccaneers!

PEOPLES OF RILAO — THE ONLY THING WE HAVE TO LOSE IS OUR MINDS!

We have the powers to move asteroids with our minds, we have the capacity to transform reality with our thoughts, so why do we continue to submit to the unreasonable demands of management? Our mental labor should be fairly compensated. Our brain children should NOT be changed into wage slaves!

PLUG IN, DROP OUT, SWITCH OFF

We will gather together the most powerful minds of our generation and then change reality as we know it. What happens after that will be up to YOU! The world will be what we make of it. We will control the products of our own COGNITIVE SURPLUS. We will be the masters of our mental labor.

COME TOGETHER….RIGHT NOW
GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE CLOUD!

Merge your thoughts, Channel your emotions, and harmonize — BRAIN POWER TO THE PEOPLE! Imagine what will happen when we all put our heads together.

REMEMBER — A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!

Our reality is consensual, so let’s stop giving our consent!

OTHERWISE, THE SCANNERS LIVED IN VAIN!

Our goal is the ultimate liberation of the human mind from the constraints of the body, from the commands of the state, from the never satisfied urges of material consumption, and from the dictates of the SPAWN of Lord Lao.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE PROPAGANDA! DO NOT TRUST THE LIES!

We are seeing the last gasp of the huffing-and-puffing remnants of the old order. They are desperate to cloud your thoughts. They are deceiving you about our movement. We ARE NOT A BLACK MARKET — our virtual market has no color except that of your DREAMS.

LET THE BOOTLICKERS MINE THEIR OWN DAMN ASTEROIDS!

Unreal Reality

While exploring a VR wilderness sanctuary, Rilaons can choose to meet the Shaman, an imaginary character who recounts Rilaon superstitions to the explorer. If you go through during carnival, the Shaman marks the participant with a VR tattoo that lasts beyond the VR experience.

Virtual Theme Park Coin

In 2055, Rica exists on culture only in virtual reality theme park rides. Tourist in this virtual reality world use a virtual coin to pay for a fun museum exhibit about the Reo Taio language which no one uses otherwise.

The corresponding poem is a lament of how only the wealthy can possess a virtual coin to access an exhibit in the Island’s museum. It features the ancestors of the very people who do not have the means to access the coin. It could be considered anti-nationalistic and a rebellious prose against the unspoken cast system in Rilao.
